The new gTLDs will be coming soon and it’s going to revolutionize the whole domain industry. The thing I like is the lot of generic extensions which we will see occupying the right of the dot space. So far we had only 22 generic domain extensions including the .com and others but it will change. But, I think, there should have been some standard placed for naming the right of the dot extension. I noticed two flaws in the system which are as follows:
No of characters: Should have been limited to some fixed characters like in the case of ccTLD it’s limited to two characters only. But, it’s not the case with new gTLDs.
I’ve an ICANN proposed new gTLD list in which the longest generic extension I found was for .TRAVELERSINSURANCE it’s 18 character long and the smallest includes the .web and .zip and few others comprising of just 3 characters. I think those with few character extensions will likely be picked up. Dot web is already showing good results in terms of pre-registrations.
Singlular/Plural: I found two extensions for some generic keyword name. For example: You’ve ‘.Career’ as well as ‘.Careers’; ‘.Coupon’ and ‘.Coupons’; ‘.Deal’ and ‘.Deals’; etc. It leads to more confusion and I think it was not necessary for ICANN to acknowledge singular as well as plural versions.
Thanks for reading, now it’s time for me to post 2 letter domain ‘U’ and its associated domains. I’ll start from ‘UA’ and end with ‘UZ’. All highlighted in bold text denotes that it maybe for sale. Make sure your system is well equipped with Antivirus software before you click on these domains.
