The Me Too movement (or #MeToo movement), with many local and international alternatives, is a movement against sexual harassment and sexual assault.[1][2][3] #MeToo spread virally in October 2017 as a hashtag used on social media in an attempt to demonstrate the widespread prevalence of sexual assault and harassment, especially in the workplace as per wikipedia page.
But, you will be surprised to note that there has been a lot of domain registrations related to ‘metoo’ keyword. And, almost more than 100 TLD’s were registered. But, does it make sense? The .com registration dates back to 20 years back which is in no way registered keeping in mind the metoo movement. But, a plethora of other registrations are all aimed directly at metoo.
Well, I think, it’s better for domain investors or general domain hobbyist to invest in domains that may have value in future and are more business oriented than socially motivated. Anyway, Registry and Registrars always make money whenever a new social or business trend hits the mainstream landscape. But, if it’s registered to further the social cause then it’s always a good sign. But, just for profiting from traffic then such registrations should be avoided.
