Of course if you go and try to register computing dot com, you’ll be having the message ‘UNAVAILABLE’. But, what if you become a little creative and used the A-Z letters in front of computing to check whether it’s available or not then might be something pops up. I did and got the result as available for only Lcomputing.com which I thought is OK. And, I hand registered it. To me lcomputing.com is a branded name. I guess such branding is not so risky especially with regards to a domain name that is Tech oriented.
The most commercial letters before a generic term usually applied by Domainers or individuals to register a domain if available are:
E-Electronic
I-Internet
And, then there after comes D as Digital, O as Online, T as Technology and may be some more.
My view is that if a keyword is a strong then it’s a good option to get few of them by adding the letters and checking which one is available.
Just for the post sake, I copied here the initial letter and the keyword term. And, I rechecked again if some is available. As of now, no dot com is available for this series. The available was Lcomputing which I registered.

The disadvantage is it doesn’t have the search volume or the type-in-traffic. Still, such names are good and companies may add them to their domain portfolio to not let them go to their competitor who may be able to spend more on marketing to make the name popular.
